Gallbladder Cancer Symptoms

Gallbladder cancer is a rare cancer thought to derive from a buildup of gallstones.  This buildup can lead to a calcification of the gallbladder, also known as “porcelain gallbladder”.  Gallbladder cancer is more common in central and South America and Europe, as well as Japan and northern India, and it frequently affects Native Americans and Hispanics.  Unless detected early, prognosis for gallbladder cancer is quite poor.

Gallbladder cancer symptoms include:

- Abdominal pain (upper-right section)
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
- Enlargement of the gallbladder

Since gallbladder cancer rarely exhibits symptoms during its early stages, it’s difficult to discover this cancer at a treatable state.  If you experience any symptoms above, contact your physician immediately.  Early detection is crucial to the success of any treatment.  Prompt and complete removal of the gallbladder is the recommended procedure to combat gallbladder cancer.
