Endometrial Cancer Symptoms
Endometrial cancer, often referred to as uterine cancer, affects the lining of the uterus and is the most common gynecologic cancer in the United States, with over 35,000 new cases reported each year. This type of cancer is often associated with obesity and excessive estrogen exposure and typically occurs within a few decades of menopause. Complete removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) is the most common treatment approach.
Endometrial cancer symptoms include:
- Vaginal bleeding after menopause
- Prolonged menstruation
- Bleeding between menstrual cycle
- Abnormal discharge from vagina
- Discomfort from pelvic region
- Pain during sexual intercourse
If you’re experiencing any of the symptoms above, consult your physician. A hysteroscopy will reveal any cancerous endometrial lesions inside the uterus. Early detection is important to the success of your treatment so be sure not to hesitate and get evaluated if you suspect the presence of uterine cancer.
