Cervical Cancer Symptoms

Cervical cancer is a malignant neoplasm deriving from the cells within the cervix uteri.  Human papilloma virus (HPV) has been observed in the development of over 90% of cervical cancer cases.  Early detection of cervical cancer is very rare.  Cervical cancer normally exhibits no symptoms until it has already spread to nearby tissue.

Cervical cancer symptoms include:

- Abnormal vaginal bleeding
- Unusual vaginal discharge
- Pain during vaginal intercourse

Although common conditions such as yeast infections produce similar symptoms, it’s important to closely monitor any warning signs of cervical cancer.  As a preventative measure, women are recommended to have regular Papanicolaou (Pap smear) tests and pelvic exams.  As with all cancers, early detection is key to the success of an effective treatment.
